Why a Nurse Practitioner?

Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are Registered Nurses who have advanced education and training. They are very qualified medical practitioners that provide excellent, comprehensive, and personalized health care. NPs have specialties, much like doctors, including general Family Practice, Women's Health Care, Pediatrics, etc. In the state of Oregon, Nurse Practitioners are licensed to provide professional healthcare independently in their own private offices or as part of a team of professional healthcare providers.
As a primary health and specialty care professionals, our Nurse Practioners focus on holistic preventive health care emphasizing the patient's responsibility for their health while providing any of the following services:
- Perform routine physical examinations.
- Diagnose and treat common acute illnesses such as earaches, sore throats, bladder infections; and manage chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, depression, using medications and other treatments.
- Provide comprehensive women's health care, including pap smears and family planning.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests including x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory tests.
- Screen for problems and make referrals to other health care professionals
- Provide health care education. Provide mental health counseling for individuals and families.
- Encourage disease prevention and the patient's individual path to wellness.
